The Purian Story

I absolutely love helping companies grow! This is the epiphany that I came to after spending 15 years at Astro Pak Corporation where my career culminated as their COO and SVP of Strategy. But, it wasn't a simple or straight path to this realization…As Thomas Merton pointed out; "we may spend our whole life climbing the ladder of success, only to find when we get to the top that our ladder is leaning against the wrong wall". It was at the top of the ladder of Astro Pak that I realized that my ladder had, indeed, been placed against the wrong wall. Not because I didn't love the company, the product, or the people; it was because I had found myself promoted beyond my passion.

This realization was entirely unexpected as I had grown up always believing that professional happiness was defined by the traditional path: you go to a good school, get an advanced degree, get a good job, work hard, get promoted to the highest position possible, retire with a huge exit package, and live happily ever after. What I found out was that while my career path led me to some extraordinary opportunities, it left me very unfulfilled towards the end of my tenure with Astro Pak without really understanding why. So, in 2015 I took a sabbatical and moved away for a couple of years in order to figure out what would truly make me happy.

It was after 2 years playing golf 3-4 times a week that I was forced to acknowledge that my tour card for the "PGA Champions Tour" would likely never come. But the time on the course with several wise business leaders allowed me to uncover the thing that would truly fulfill me professionally...Through a lot of wise counsel and several conversations I realized that the happiest I had ever been was in the early stages of helping Astro Pak grow from a small $6MM organization to what is now over $50MM per year in annual revenues! Now I just needed to align my business strategy accordingly.

As the founder and principal of Purian LLC, my goal was to create an ecosystem of like-minded experts and partner organizations that could seamlessly work together for the betterment of small to medium sized businesses ($5MM - $50MM in annual sales). In my experience, there are so many business owners out there that have amazing ideas and products and have built great companies with tremendous potential. All they need are a few missing pieces and some experienced direction in order to create a world class enterprise. By partnering with Purian, small businesses can realize their full potential at a fraction of the cost of bringing on the expertise necessary to achieve their vision.
